As part of Aldi’s acquisition and conversion of former Winn-Dixie locations, Cleveland Construction, Inc. was contracted to retrofit a 52,000 square-foot former Winn-Dixie retail space in Avon Park, Florida, into a 22,000-square-foot Aldi grocery store. 

The project, which began in November 2024, involved selective demolition of walls, flooring, ceilings, structural walls, concrete slabs, and sections of the roof, as well as modifications to the front façade. 

Our team completed steel framing and decking to match the existing structure, added framing and drywall partitions for the sales floor and back-of-house areas, and installed batt insulation and acoustical ceilings. Custom carpentry was done for shelving and grocery displays.

New rooftop units (RTUs), ductwork for restrooms and office spaces, and updates to plumbing, electrical, and lighting systems were also installed. 

Exterior upgrades included metal soffits, composite wall panels, fiber cement panels, and new storefronts, along with a new TPO roofing system. The remaining 30,000 square-feet of the building was left for another tenant to lease.

The project was completed on time in April 2025, contributing to Aldi’s expansion in Florida.
